As fall approaches, many of us put away our summery scarves in favor of wrapping ourselves in warm throws, or lay down cushy rugs to welcome bare toes at bedside. The Fall 2025 issue of Handwoven will focus on projects for home that welcome us, body and soul.

We’re looking for new rug ideas to warm up our floors, or for pillows in a host of shapes—round, square, spherical, or bolsters—to freshen the couch, or a rectangle to soften the weaving bench. You could design a curtain to help keep the chilly weather outside. Don't forget about blankets for beds, or throws to nestle into for book time or TV time (or, let‘s be honest, nap time). And we’re always looking for splendid dish towel designs, because weavers simply love them.

Structures to consider using in your designs? Twills, of course, and also doublecloth, crackle, overshot, summer and winter, or monk‘s belt—but feel free to surprise us. Plant or animal fibers? That’s your call!

Starting with this issue, we’d like project designers to offer suggestions for how readers can make the project their own—for instance, ideas for alternate colorways or for other uses for your draft (like turning a dishtowel into a scarf if the hand of the textile is right for that kind of thing).
