Petal Pink, Petal Soft Weaving Pattern

Spanish lace is made by weaving plain weave with only a small group of warp threads for 3 or more picks and then moving to an adjacent group of warp threads and weaving 3 or more picks and continuing this way across the warp to the opposite selvedge. In each section, the picks are beaten in with a hand beater. Many different and lovely effects are possible with Spanish lace.

Structure: Plain weave with Spanish lace. Finished Size: 17" × 671⁄2" plus 6" fringe each end. Yarns: Warp: Baby Silkpaca (70% alpaca/ 30% silk; 420 yd/50 g ball, 3,809 yd/lb, Malabrigo), #017 Pink Frost, 720 yd. Weft: Kidsilk Haze (70% Super Kid Mohair/ 30% Silk; 229 yd/25 g ball, 4,154 yd/lb, Rowan), #580, Grace, 550 yd. Warp Ends: 240 ends. Warp Length: 3 yd long (allows 4" for take-up, 29" for loom waste; loom waste includes fringe). Setts: EPI: 12 PPI: 12 Width in the Reed: 20".
