In addition to project instructions, you can download WIFs for each project!
Huck Lace and Tencel Scarf by Kristen Kelley. Pick a color from your stash that you love! Woven in a combination of huck lace and plain weave, this is a great project for beginners.
Fiber required:
8/2 Tencel, roughly half a pound.
Finished size:
One scarf, 8" x 73" plus 5" twisted fringe at each end.
Elegant Gamp Lap Robe by Suzie Liles. Suzie wove her version of this twill gamp using bronze and violet Harrisville Highland wool, but you can use any two colors that you like—or even use different colors in each threading block and cross them with the same or different colors in the treadling blocks.
Fiber required:
Worsted-weight wool such as Harrisville Highland, in two or more colors, roughly 2 lb total (unevenly divided).
Finished size:
One throw, 37½" x 51" plus 3½" twisted fringe at each end.
Ragtime Remix by Carol Reinhold. Lots of us have carpet warp in our stash along with cotton fabrics we don’t know what to do with. This placemat project uses both. Carol’s method of blending the fabric colors in the weft is worth studying.
Fiber required:
8/4 carpet warp, less than half a pound total; 42-44" wide cotton fabric in five patterns, roughly 5 yd total.
Finished size:
Four placemats, 12½" x 17" each with 1½" fringe at each end.
Finnish Lace Dinner Napkins by Gayle Pace. With three colors of cottolin from your stash, you can weave six huck lace napkins that wow your guests. If you’d prefer three towels, treadle 20 repeats for each (rather than 10), and skip the side hems.
Fiber required:
22/2 cottolin; about half of a mini cone for the main color, a third of a mini cone for the secondary color, and much less for the accent color.
Finished size:
Six napkins, 12½" x 12½" each.
Towels in a Modern Arrangement by Linda Gettmann. Pick two neutrals in 8/2 cotton that look good together for your warp, and then start experimenting for the weft. Linda used pairs of weft colors that are close to each other on the color wheel (such as burgundy and red, or two shades of green) in her versions of these summer and winter towels.
Fiber required:
8/2 cotton, roughly a pound total in two colors for warp; less than a pound total in at least two colors for weft; 20/2 cotton or sewing thread in similar colors, 350 yd per towel.
Finished size:
Six towels, 20" x 26¼" each.
