LoginDesigner Malynda Allen loves to sew, and the idea of sewing a special outfit from handwoven fabric for a new baby appeals to her. She did not know how to weave when her own babies were born, so weaving and sewing for a new grandchild is a welcome opportunity.
For her sweet outfit, she adapted an eight-shaft M’s and O’s draft and wove it in cotton and bamboo for softness and sheen.
A band of diamonds stretches across the bodice front, while the sleeves and remainder of the outfit have dots of M’s and O’s. Plain-weave cuffs finish things off. Whether you make this piece for a christening, wedding, or other event, it is sure to become a treasured heirloom.
