Blanket Scarf 12-Shaft Weaving Pattern

For this 12-shaft scarf, designer Elisabeth Hill chose a delicate raindrop motif in summer and winter. She calls this a blanket scarf—it’s between a scarf and a shawl, and they’re intended to be wrapped and tucked around one’s neck and shoulders as a cozy but fashionable defense against the cold.

STRUCTURE: Summer and winter. EQUIPMENT: 12-shaft table or dobby loom, 17" weaving width; 12-dent reed; 2 shuttles; 6 bobbins. YARNS: Tuna (6/2 wool; 339 yd/100 g, 1,538 yd/lb; Vävstuga). 16/2 cotton (6,429 yd/lb; Vävstuga). FINISHED SIZES: 14." x 78" with 4" fringe.
