We thought it would be fun to take you behind the scenes at one of our more recent shoots: a set of workshops on doubleweave by the wonderful Jennifer Moore.
We were pretty proud to debut Jennifer Moore’s Doubleweave on a 4-Shaft Loom last year. Now we’re even prouder to launch her follow-up, Block Doubleweave on 8 Shafts.
Last summer, I traveled to Red Stone Glen to film a few workshops with Tom Knisely. Tom is an amazing teacher. The topic this time is: how to design your own handwoven projects.
I have a set of linen sheets that are more than 20 years old. Aside from an inadvertent crayon stain, they look just as they did when I bought them, despite two decades of regular use.
Tom has taught weaving for over 30 years—from the most begin-iest of beginners to weavers who thrive on complex, multi-harness projects.
Doubleweave allows you to weave two layers of cloth at the same time. This means winding a double warp, double threading your loom, and weaving with two different sheds, one on top of the other.
During this video shoot, I learned three very important things: Tom is a remarkable host who handles any setback in stride; pillowcases can work as lighting baffles; and flax and linen are really, really cool.
We are super-pleased to debut our latest video project with Tom Knisely. A regular contributor to Handwoven magazine, Tom has also taught beginning weaving, rug weaving, how to care for your loom, and a variety of other topics.
