Weaving any project from initial idea to final pressing can take a lot of time. It’s not for the faint of heart or those in a hurry. I know because just about every time I’ve tried to shave some time off the planning, weaving, or finishing of a project, you can tell in the end results. In addition, some weavers are more organized than others and plan their weaving projects to be completed well in advance of when they are needed. The weavers in my group, on the other hand, start baby blankets on or around the due date.
All this is to say that I’ve received more than a few requests for 2021’s editorial calendar, and I am happy to say that we have written it: Handwoven and Little Looms 2021 Editorial Year. This year, we decided to include our special issue, Easy Weaving with Little Looms in the calendar. This will be its 6th year, and it has become part of the editorial year for us.
In brief here are the themes for the 6 issues:
• January/February 2021 – “Yarns with Impact”
• Easy Weaving with Little Looms 2021 – “This & That”
• March/April 2021 – “Mid-Century-Inspired”
• May/June 2021 – “Plaids and Checks”
• September/October 2021 – “Detail-Oriented”
• November/December 2021 – “Reflecting on Deflecting”
Palettes for the issues are developed as the year progresses so that we can do our best to reflect current color trends. The palettes are released when we send out issue-specific calls for submissions.
Here is our new submission form for Handwoven and Little Looms. Please use it to send your proposals. Submission guidelines can be found here. Here are our addresses for inquiries that won't fit into our submission form.
